Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is CBD?

    • CBD is a chemical that stands for Cannabidiol and it is one of 100+ cannabinoids secreted by the cannabis plant. CBD is non-psychoactive, unlike the more famous cannabinoid THC, Tetrahydrocannabinol, which is what causes the stereotypical "high" from ingesting marijuana. Since CBD is non-psychoactive, ingesting it won't cause any sort of high at all no matter how much of it you take. CBD is labeled as a nutritional substance in the United States making it perfectly legal to take (depending on your state).

  • How does CBD work?

  • What is the difference between Marijuana and Hemp?

    • Marijuana and hemp are both the species of plant called Cannabis sativa. This means they are technically the same plant. The only difference between marijuana and hemp is the amount of THC each plant produces. For a marijuana plant to be classified as "hemp" it can contain no more than .3% THC by dry weight. This has been achieved by selectively breeding marijuana plants that produce low amounts of THC over several generations until the amount they produce can't cause any sort of high when ingested. All of Dr. Redmon's CBD products come from hemp plants exclusively.

  • What is the best way to administer CBD? How much CBD should I take?

    • The best way to administer CBD depends on the type of product being taken.

      • A full dropper of CBD oil should be taken sublingually. When administered, simply place the full amount under the tongue and hold it under the tongue for two minutes and then swallow it. Do not take the full dropper and swallow it without holding it under the tongue. Just swallowing the oil will lead to diminished effects.

      • Gummies should be taken similarly to the oil. Chew the 1/2-1 gummies and then hold it under the tongue for two minutes and then swallow it. Do not chew the gummies and swallow it instantly. Doing so will lead to diminished effects.

      • Take one capsule per dose and swallow it like a pill.

      • CBD cream should be applied to sore/inflamed areas of the body on the skin and applied liberally like lotion or sunscreen.

  • What is the "Entourage Effect?"

    • The Entourage Effect is the scientific theory that cannabinoids work with other cannabinoids and terpenes synergistically to produce greater therapeutic effects than each would do if administered alone. Terpenes, or terpenoids, are organic molecules produced by plants that deter herbivorous animals and give plants their unique odors. Hemp plants produce terpenes as well as cannabinoids and it is thought that taking "Full Spectrum" CBD oil, meaning CBD oil that contains hundreds of different chemicals from the hemp plant including terpenes, produces stronger therapeutic effects than taking pure CBD alone.

  • What are the potential side effects/drug interactions when taking CBD?

    • As with any other medication or substance, all come with potential negative side effects or drug interactions. Always ask your doctor before you start taking a new medication or substance including CBD. You can find a comprehensive list of side effects and drug interactions here.

  • Is CBD oil the same thing as hemp seed oil?

  • Where is your CBD sourced from?

  • If your product doesn't contain 100% CBD, what is the other percentage made of?

  • What type of Quality Testing do you perform on your products?

  • What extraction methods do you employ?

  • Will your CBD products cause a positive result for a THC drug test?
